This tea was imagined and created by our French intern, Marine. Her idea was simple: to capture the flavors of her native region of Provence. The inspiration for this tea is the fields of lavender, apricots, and lemons found in the French towns that border the Mediterranean. Our Provence tea is a soft melange of floral and fruit flavors.

Not all silver tips are created equal. While our Ceylon Vintage Silver Tips is plucked with surgical precision from cultivated tea bushes, Artisanal Ceylon Argent comes from a wilder place entirely, the highland forests of Sri Lanka, where tea grows on towering trees that reach up to 40 feet tall.
The tea is made by our friend Buddika at his small factory in Ratnapura. Buddika was born and raised in Kandy, Sri Lanka, and spent 17 years as a trainee tea planter before striking out on his own to produce artisanal teas by hand. His skilled artisans carefully pluck and process each bud, and you can see the difference: these are rustic, large silver buds with a character that no machine could replicate. In the cup, the difference is just as clear. Where traditional silver tips are delicate, this tea brings a rich, maple-sap sweetness with complexity that lingers on the palate, evoking the untamed essence of the forests where it's grown. It is one of the purest expressions of what tea can be when the plant, the place, and the maker are all extraordinary.
We've often seen these needles, and this season we decided that you should try them. Jasmine Silver Needles combines the best of northern Fujian Province (China). There are the large silver tea buds, also known as needles, which are the pride of Fuding, and those needles are scented like another famous tea from the area, Jasmine, with jasmine flowers. Lovely!
Fuding, in China's Fujian province, has long been the heartland of white tea, and it's where Mike Harney travels to source the finest examples. On a recent visit, amid the region's quietly transformative work with white tea processing, he found this: a white tea that earns its name.
Where our classic Mutan White offers a delicate introduction to Bai Mudan, the King brings a noticeably sweeter, fuller character. Large, downy silver tips and whole green leaves unfurl into a pale yellow cup with soft vegetal notes of bok choy and fresh hay, light-bodied but with more presence than you'd expect.
Ceylon Vintage Silver Tips is a rare white tea with a flavor that's light, sweet, and sublime. A Harney & Sons exclusive, this tea is plucked and made just for us from the terminal buds of tea bushes grown high in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). They are handled with great care, so the bud remains whole and becomes silvery. Since there are no leaves, the flavor is different from traditional tea.
When most people think of African tea, they picture bold, brisk black teas built for breakfast. African Antlers turns that expectation on its head. This rare white tea hails from the Satemwa estate in Malawi, one of Africa's most storied tea-growing regions, and is made primarily from dark, silvery twigs and buds, giving it a strikingly unusual appearance even among white teas. The result is a cup that is light-bodied and deeply golden, with a gentle sweetness and a soft, peachy warmth that lingers long after the last sip. We were captivated the moment this tea crossed our path, and we're proud to offer it as something truly unlike anything else in our collection.
Mutan White comes to us from China, where white teas have long been prized for their gentle character and minimal processing. The dry leaves are green and white, and once brewed, they yield a pale yellow cup that resembles warm water, which is precisely the point. This tea is dried slowly, and that allows for just a bit of oxidation. White tea oxidizes by patience, not by machine, like black teas.
The aroma is the star here: fresh and softly sweet. The body is light (consider it the opposite of a rich, malty black tea), and the cup as a whole is clean and uncomplicated. With a medium caffeine level, it sits in a comfortable middle ground, present without being pushy. It does have higher levels of theanine, the amino acid that gives it a mouth-filling body. And since it has the buds, it's sweeter than most teas.
We recommend brewing Mutan White at 175°F for four minutes. Higher temperatures can turn delicate white teas bitter, so a bit of patience with the kettle goes a long way. It's a good introduction to white tea for those new to the category and a reliable, low-key pleasure for those who already know their way around it.
In the northeastern corner of the Fujian Province of China is the coastal city of Fuding. This is the hometown of white tea. This is where the commercialization of white tea began.
In the hills outside of Fuding, the fields are full of the special tea cultivar called Da Bai or Big White. The name is apt. These tea plants form fat buds, thickly coated with down. The plant stockpiles goodness in the bud, for it is the plant's future. Inside the tiny silver needle are extra sugars, polyphenols, and even extra caffeine. The downy fuzz is made up of trichomes, which help the immature bud to survive this cold, cruel world. After the buds are painstakingly plucked by hand, most teamakers put the buds in a barn and let them slowly dry out.
This subtly sweet tea can be appreciated in a cup, or you can drink it like the Chinese and float a spoonful into a clear glass of hot water. Watch the buds slowly sink in the water. It can be very therapeutic.
Light yet bursting with flavors, Berry Young exults in the gentle grassy notes and floral aroma of Mutan White tea blended with Strawberry Kiwi Fruit Tea. A natural strawberry kiwi flavor adds a touch of depth that's both tart and sweet; lastly, the addition of goji berries and rose petals enhances the fresh, warming layers of the infusion—a perfect companion to a bright morning and clear breeze.
